Where to Dance Salsa & Bachata in the Baltics — Riga, Vilnius & Tallinn: The Complete Guide

The Baltic states are one of European Latin dance's most surprising success stories. Combined, Latvia (4 festivals), Lithuania (4 festivals), and Estonia (4 festivals) host 12 festivals — an extraordinary density for three small countries with a combined population of just 6 million. The Tallinn Bachata Festival, Riga's kizomba and bachata events, and Vilnius's growing scene have put the Baltics firmly on the European dance travel map.
Riga, Latvia (4 festivals)
Riga is the Baltic Latin dance capital, with the most active weekly scene and the strongest festival infrastructure. Latvia's 4 festivals include kizomba, bachata, and mixed SBK events. The city's stunning Art Nouveau architecture provides some of Europe's most atmospheric dance venues. Riga's international community (EU expats, students, digital nomads) keeps the scene diverse.
Vilnius, Lithuania (4 festivals)
Vilnius has a growing Latin dance community with 4 festivals including the Lithuania Bachata Festival. The city's compact, walkable old town (UNESCO World Heritage) makes for easy venue-hopping. Lithuanian dancers are known for being enthusiastic and welcoming. Vilnius is also one of Europe's most affordable capitals.
Tallinn, Estonia (4 festivals)
Tallinn's medieval old town provides a fairy-tale backdrop for Latin dance. The Tallinn Bachata Festival — Legends of the Sea (4th edition, May 2026) is the flagship event, with a brand-new venue right by the sea. Estonia's tech-savvy culture (home of Skype) means events are well-organized and promoted online. The 2-hour ferry to Helsinki opens up Finland's scene for easy weekend trips.
The Baltic Circuit
The three capitals are connected by affordable buses and flights (Riga to Vilnius: 4 hours by bus; Riga to Tallinn: 4.5 hours; Tallinn to Helsinki: 2 hours by ferry). Many dancers attend events across all three countries, creating a vibrant cross-Baltic community. A "Baltic Latin Dance Road Trip" covering all three capitals in one week is very feasible and affordable.

Incredibly affordable. All three Baltic capitals are among Europe's cheapest. Accommodation, food, and nightlife cost a fraction of Western European prices.
Compact cities. All three old towns are walkable. You won't need a car.
The ferry to Helsinki. Tallinn-Helsinki is a 2-hour ferry, making the Finnish scene (Tampere Bachata Festival) easily accessible.
Summer is best. The Baltics are dark and cold in winter. Summer (June-August) brings white nights, outdoor events, and the most active social scene.
