Best Salsa Festivals Around the World 2026

Latin Dance Hub lists 143 salsa festivals across 37 countries. From the legendary New York International Salsa Congress to the Feria de Cali — the world's biggest salsa celebration — this guide highlights the essential events for every salsa dancer's calendar.
The Legendary Events
New York International Salsa Congress — NYC, USA
When: Late August/early September (annual)
Why it's legendary: The event that invented the salsa congress format. Running for over two decades, the NY Congress is where the world's best mambo dancers perform, where legendary instructors teach, and where social dancing runs from dusk to dawn. If you attend one salsa event in your life, many dancers would tell you to make it this one.
Feria de Cali — Cali, Colombia
When: December 25 – January 1 (annual)
Why it's legendary: The world's biggest salsa festival — and it's not even close. The entire city of Cali transforms into a week-long salsa celebration with street parties, concerts, competitions, parades, and dancing literally everywhere. This isn't a congress in a hotel — it's a cultural phenomenon. The salsa caleña performances at the Feria will redefine what you think salsa can be.
CALDAC Convention — Denver, USA
When: September 24-28, 2026
Why it matters: One of the largest Afro-Latin dance events in the US. 5 rooms of dancing until 5 AM (dedicated salsa, Cuban salsa, bachata, kizomba, and zouk rooms). 140+ hours of workshops. 150+ performances. Live music every night. 2,000+ attendees. The scale is impressive.
Mambo City 5Star Congress — London, UK
Why it matters: London's flagship salsa congress covering son montuno, Palladium mambo On2, New York On2, and contemporary styles. Held at the Radisson Blu Hotel. The depth of salsa knowledge on offer here is exceptional.
SF Salsa Festival — San Francisco, USA
When: March 26-28, 2026 (16th Annual)
Why it matters: Charlie Aponte (legendary voice of El Gran Combo) live in concert. Innovative features like silent disco parties with 3 channels (salsa, bachata, zouk). Vinyl fair. One of the most creative festivals in the US.

Planning Tips
The NY Congress and Feria de Cali book up fast. These are the two "must-do" events for serious salsa dancers. Plan months in advance for accommodation and passes.
Hotel congresses vs. city festivals. Hotel-based congresses (Mambo City, CALDAC, SFSBK) offer all-in-one convenience. City-based events (NY Congress, Feria de Cali) let you experience the host city alongside the dancing.
Look for live music. The best salsa festivals feature live bands — the experience of dancing to a live salsa orchestra is fundamentally different from (and better than) dancing to recorded music.
